village life [short story] FROM 2007 you may of missed this one

Look see the old lady as she walks the narrow path along the village street,
As the cars go rushing by , thirty miles an hour it reads on the sign
The wild life lays dead at the kerb side, proof that no-one reads the sign,
All her life she watched the village change, many friends have passed away
Her cottage down by the stream is falling into disrepair ,she has nowhere
Else to go, her husband lays in the churchyard here .
The planners came to see her, would you sell some land we like to build
A house or two next door to you , the plans she did see very nice they looked too
And the builders would do some repairs for you.

The deal was done the moneys in the bank , the builders move in.
On returning from the church, machinery is ripping the garden to shreds
She shouts and cries all at the same time but no-one hears above the noise
Flowerbeds and boundary fence the old apple tree comes crashing down,
With no concern for her distress, the builder explains that she sign all
This away I’ll show you the plans to her horror she reads twenty two
houses and all next door to me.

The dream cottage down by the stream is now for sale , the repairs were
not done well and her life became a living hell .
The new home owners did not care for village life as they race around
In fancy cars, the children show no respect for the anyone
And they just pass her by without a word as she lays in the churchyard.

oldgit

they are to ban me from smoking
good for them i suppose
but what of my cravings
to take the drag of my fag
still i fear it won't end here
as some has to pay some where
while life's to short
I'll hope and pray they don't take
my coffee away .

Monday 25 June 2007

thank you

Well two new tyres and one little part,
a can petrol treatment, some cyber friends.
and the will of the people .
My Diahatsu Move sail through the retest
with flying colors ,
With plastic card in hand I paid the garage man.
With held my glee until safely away to drink my lunchtime tea.
Time to reflect; it is to be said don't wait until its
to late, book your M.O.T early, as to give yourself
time to put things right, can put an end to all that worry.

So the last rights were never read,I can sleep at night knowing the cars alright
for another year, to carry me and my camera to the places far and near.
THANK YOU bloggers !!
(out loud)

could have been

this could have been better
had the camera settings been
adjusted correctly but thats
life should have it set to auto
focus

I n passing

Is it fair that we should read,
who lies here, passed away on this day.
In this year . Before their time it should always read.
For we know not when our time will come,
but you must be there in the right place.
Or be it that you wish to live forever,
we must make room for others.
We take our leave from light to dark
forever a human being .

shopping

Remember when every Woolworth’s had wooden floors
And every counter was eight foot long and three foot wide
on both sides, the staff would serve you from between.
To a small boy this was a superstore of its time ,
Staring up trying to see, standing still as told to and not
hearing come on lets go, stay close .
All the people pushing and shoving in a rush to leave.
Its all here, something for every one .
There’s bed linen ,own brand paint .brasso , wallpaper,
Sweets in jars, broken biscuits and loose chocolates sold
By the ounce, summer sandals winter wellies
Stair rods brooms and brushes coal scuttles, spoons knives
Forks sold in sets , nails all sizes by the pound chain links
By the yard, packets of tea cans of peas ,pants and socks
And so much more and every corner had its smell
The cigarette’s and cigars matches lighters too, sold through
A small window ! music played sometimes, for here you
Can bye the latest 45 and an L.P. of cover versions .
Pyrex glass ovenware and jeyes toilet tissue easy tear
And there we see a child crying lost and found. I’m still standing looking forty years and more have passed
Screws in packets of four six links of chain in a blister pack
A tea light candle a plastic chrismas tree, cans of cola
A toy from China. vinyl floors. self service, sale now on!
Its gone all wrong but this I could not for-see ,
When I was crying mummy !!!
